My 2023 resolutions included a few good habits, such as reading a book every month, studying finance, and exercising twice a week. They weren't anything new; I've been trying to maintain these habits for years. I knew they would certainly improve my life if I practiced them on a regular basis. However, there's one thing I have picked up throughout this year that I didn't expect to have such a profound impact on my life in many aspects – meditation.
Since I'm just a beginner at meditation, what I do is close my eyes and focus on my breath. By simply following my breath, I can relax and clear my mind of unnecessary thoughts and emotions. It's the simplest and most powerful way to ground myself, especially since my mind often wanders between the past and future. This practice has brought numerous positive changes to my life. I no longer feel too stressed at work, fall asleep more easily, and have moments throughout the day when I just feel "It's good." More importantly, whenever I experience inflammation in my right eye, it's usually very mild and goes away within two weeks. (I still need to address the issue of its frequent occurrence, though.)
Meditation wasn't on my list of new resolutions, but it's something I've been practicing almost every day, and I've been experiencing its positive effects. It definitely deserves a place in the Hall of Fame of my life. While I can't say that meditation is a cure-all for every problem, I believe it impacts my mind, which is linked to every aspect of my life, and ultimately guides me toward a more fulfilling life.
